Exploring SFDC

San Francisco Design Center (SFDC) is the West’s best destination for fine home furnishings and accessories.  Sitting at the heart of the San Francisco’s Design District (known as Showplace Square), the SFDC is comprised of two buildings: the Showplace and Galleria. Together they house over 100 beautifully curated showrooms representing over 2,000 manufacturers whose product lines are sourced locally and internationally. Here you’ll discover the very best in traditional and contemporary furniture, fabrics, lighting, kitchen and bath, antiques, art, rugs and flooring, cabinetry, and ceramic tile.

Brenda recently visited SFDC and took a few snaps of some of the exhibits.  Solar shades that create a great ambiance to a 12×12 Tucci shade that would be fantastic on a back deck.  As you’ll see, there is such a wonderful assortment of ideas and inspiration at SFDC and we wanted to share a few of those finds! Enjoy.

Dreaming of Drapery

The bedroom should be a place of serenity and calm.  The perfect drapery in a bedroom is key for form and function.  Of course, it should be stylish and inviting but it is also important to consider the room darkening component.  Full and luxurious drapery tie in all of the design elements or perhaps a simple shade on the window with clean lines is what finishes the room.  Whatever the design components of the room are the bedroom should be a place of reprise.

Here are a few bedrooms for our projects to serve as inspiration.  If you were to dream up the perfect bedroom what would it be?  Sweet dreams…

Modernism Week 2018 & Hunter Douglas

Modernism Week 2018 is wrapping up in Palm Springs, CA.  It is an 11 day festival that celebrates mid-century modern design, architecture, design, and fashion.  The festival offers homes, tours, lectures, film series….all things mid-century modern!  The Steel & Glass home that is featured this year is outfitted with Hunter Douglas shadings throughout and is stunning.

“A modern-day classic post and beam, this newly constructed home is based on the original plans of a noted mid-century modern Palm Springs architect. Built entirely from steel, the home fuses contemporary architectural vision with modern technology and iconic mid-century design.

Set amidst the striking desert landscape, the home takes full advantage of sweeping vistas with expansive walls of glass drawing the outdoors in. Featuring three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a den, the home’s thoughtful interior design elements and furnishings are expertly curated to reflect today’s lifestyle while enhancing the beauty and integrity of the architecture.”
