Color Is Back: Lime

Our first post in our color series we talked about the trending fashion color for 2018, at least according to Pantone, is purple – PURPLE! I know, it’s actually Ultra Violet, but it’s purple.

The Pantone charts have thousands of colors with all their hues, values, and intensities (quick, grab your Munsel charts).  And yet, for the past few years we have been hung in neutral – how many shades of white linen can you name? Be daring and add grey or go over the top with silver.  OMG!  Here’s a news flash – color never left!  We left color.  If you don’t feel brave yet, let me offer a few suggestions in the lime family.  Check out these decors which feature refreshing and vibrant lime.  We’ve also included a favorite fabric pairing which shows how vibrant colors should be embraced!  Rooms just come to life with richness in color.

The Future of Design

Design comes in all shapes and sizes and here is a digital design that we think is awe inspiring.  MGM is set to open its doors for an integrated resort based in Macau, China.  It will be a multi – dimensional sensory experiences and innovative in every way.

“Soon to become Macau’s most innovative integrated resort, offering never-been-seen-before experiences for guests, Spectacle is the epicenter of entertainment at MGM COTAI. Located at the heart of the resort, Spectacle is over 4-stories high, spanning the length of a soccer field. It is a meticulously engineered column-free long-span diagrid structure. The space will seem to be alive, continually evolving and responding to changing conditions such as visitor behaviors, weather, time of day or season, which will provide an immersive, multi-dimensional sensory experience.”

The future of digital design is here thanks to Obscura Digital, the brilliant designers on this project.

Project: Deer Lake Beach

The Hunter Douglas Silhouette Window Shade has been around for over 25 years and for good reason!   It turns harsh glare into beautiful, ambient light.  Lighting control in a room is the main function of any window treatment and the Silhouette does is beautifully.   The shade features soft, adjustable S-shaped vanes between two sheer fabrics.   With a simple tilt the shade can diffuse fierce ultra violet rays and instead allow the light to create a lovely glow within your room.  Silhouettes, even while the vanes are open, can filter out up to 88% of the sun’s harmful rays.  Your furniture will thank you!

Our recent Deer Lake project in Seagrove Beach was a custom build on the Gulf of Mexico.  The home features Silhouettes throughout creating a beautiful and cohesive design feel.  Take a look…
